What is a 6 Panel Drug Test?

A 6 panel drug test is an on-site screening device that is used to detect the presence of six different substances in the human body.

What does a 6 Panel Drug Test Test For?

6 panel drug screens can detect the presence of the following:

  • Amphetamines/Methamphetamines
  • Cocaine
  • Barbiturates
  • Cannabis/THC/Marijuana
  • Opiates
  • Phencyclidine (PCP)

These substances are considered by healthcare professionals to be the most commonly used illicit drugs, making the 6 panel test a helpful tool for those who need to determine if street drugs are present in an individual’s system.

Please be aware, however, that 6 panel drug test alcohol capabilities vary depending on the product you buy. If you are in need of a 6 panel test that can screen for alcohol, you must look for a device that has the “+ ALCO” label.

At Countrywide Testing, we offer multiple 6 panel testing options that include alcohol detection, including our 6 panel oral cube and our 7 panel saliva test

How Does a 6 Panel Drug Test Work?

The six panel drug test is typically completed using a urine sample from the individual in question. The person will provide a sample by urinating into a sterilized collection cup.

After the sample has been successfully collected, the 6 panel dip card is submerged in the urine for a couple of minutes, or until the test strips begin to change color.

With Countrywide Testing products, screen results are indicated in 5 minutes or less.

Our easy-to-read indication fields make deciphering the results of a 6 panel urine drug test as straightforward as possible. Each of our products comes with a results guide that demonstrates how results will appear.

Below is a brief overview of how Countrywide Testing 6 panel drug tests display results:

  1. Negative

If none of the six substances are detected within the sample, the results are considered to be negative. This will be indicated by the presence of two (2) rose pink lines in the indication field.

  1.   Preliminary

Rapid response drug tests, or at home drug test 6 panel screenings, are not always as accurate as laboratory drug testing that is completed using blood samples. Thus, these tests can sometimes provide inconclusive results. These results are indicated by one (1) rose pink line which appears in the CONTROL portion of the indication field, and the absence of a line in the TEST area of the indication field. When a test returns preliminary results, it’s recommended that the sample be passed on to a laboratory facility for further testing.

  1. Positive

If a urine sample contains one (or several) of the detectable substances, a positive result will be shown. This is indicated by the presence of one (1) line in the TEST area of the indication field, and the absence of a line in the CONTROL portion of the indication field

It’s important to note that both Countrywide Testing 6 panel drug test cups and 6 panel dip cards are more than 99 percent accurate. Thus, they are trusted by employers, healthcare professionals, criminal investigators, and sports organizations who require reliable, infallible results each and every time they test.
